Hi!
During closing the attorney mentioned a form and a process to go through to be sure you pay the lower Primary Residence Property Tax on your home. The form itself cannot be turned in until the sale of your home shows in county records which can take about 6 weeks. We’ve got a reminder on our calendar to email again closer to that time.
HOWEVER, there’s a few things you will need to do before then so that’s what this email entails…
1) Update your drivers license (all drivers licenses in the house) and voter’s registration to your new address. If you were already an SC resident you can do that at the link below. Otherwise you’ll have to visit the DMV in person. https://www.scdmvonline.com/SCTRNS/Public/Transactions/Info.aspx
2) Update your vehicle registration (for all vehicles) to your new address.
SC DMV Form 4057: http://www.scdmvonline.com/-/media/Forms/4057.ashx
I’ll follow-up with another email in a few weeks with the additional steps for updating your property taxes.
Thank you and hope you’re loving your new home!

Hi!
Just wanted to reach out to make sure you call your home owners insurance to request a refund. While your mortgage company, if you had a mortgage, will automatically mail you an escrow refund check; your home owners insurance won’t until you ask them. If you make the call shortly after closing, they usually don’t require any paperwork. If you wait too long, they may require all the closing documents or say that the policy has run its course and not offer a refund.
I’ll follow-up with another email in a few weeks to be sure you got that refund.
Thank you!

Hi!
Thank you again for trusting our team to find your new home! It’s time to do the paperwork to make sure you’re paying Primary Residence property tax on your home.
By default the county will charge you 6% property tax on your home, unless you complete the process to be taxed at 4% as your legal residence. May not sound like a big deal but for most this results in hundreds, or thousands of dollars per year in savings. Failing to do so would result in a bump up in your mortgage payments if not handled in a timely manner.
Hopefully by now you’ve updated your drivers license, voters registration, and vehicle registration, like we emailed about a few weeks back. So the next steps are…
1) Have copies and (if possible) the originals of your updated drivers license, vehicle registration, voters registration and a copy of your prior year’s tax return.
2) Each county is a little different. Below are instructions for each depending on which county your home is located in…

Assessor’s Phone number 843-832-0162, Option #5. - BERKELY COUNTY

Hi!
Reaching out again to see if you were able to get your old home owners insurance canceled. Receiving the actual refund check in the mail can take a while. But wanted to be sure you got the process with them going.
Thank you!
